Biography
For more than twenty years, the French-Swiss explorer-researcher Christian Clot has dedicated himself to exploration and scientific research in situ. He has mounted expeditions in all types of terrain, from the sea to the mountains, from forests to deserts, questioning the interaction between environments and the capacity of humans to adapt to changing conditions and crises. He has achieved several world firsts, such as being the first person to penetrate the central part of the Cordillera Darwin mountains (Tierra del Fuego) and successively crossing the four most extreme environments on the planet. Following several experiences of crisis situations, he developed a program of observation of crisis situations, in 2005, in partnership with the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme and the University Paris 13. In 2014, he extended his studies by creating the Human Adaptation Institute, whose flagship projects are DEEP TIME, DEEP CLIMATE and LES VOIES DE LA LIBERTE. He studies in an innovative way human cognition and physiology in the face of change and new environmental situations in real-life situations. He is vice-president of the Society of French Explorers. He has written and directed several books and films, gives conferences for companies and the general public and has received several awards for his work. His latest book, "Au cœur des extrêmes" was published by Robert Laffont in May 2018.
